The Inspiration
Dolmen structures intrigued me as they rely on simple, elemental relationships—gravity, compression, and balance—revealing how meaning and presence can emerge from simplicity and intention.
Through a combination of 2D and 3D sketches, I explored the form and its essentials, observing how much could be removed while preserving stability and character.
Models and Mockups
Physical models at multiple scales and level of detail were used to study balance, proportion, behavior, and assembly, allowing decisions to be guided by real-world behavior rather than assumption.
Light As A Material
Light was treated as a material with focused studies on RGB versus RGBW LEDs and color temperature to achieve a warm, natural, and intentional glow while defining the lamp’s visual character.
Experience Prototyping
By embedding programmable LED rings into 3D-printed prototypes, I refined light direction, speed, order, and transition to shape an experience impossible with a conventional bulb.
Pre Production Mockups
Although visually minimal, the lamp required careful pre-production models to resolve a hidden interior complexity, assembly order, and long-term serviceability.
The Details Make The Design
The lamp’s character emerged through restraint, where the smallest shifts in detail carried disproportionate influence on the overall form.

Samples + Short Run Production
The final lamp was produced in collaboration with machinists, where refined tool paths and hand polishing brought clarity and depth to the material.
Assembly
Final assembly reflects a refusal to compromise through custom cabling and internal routing that enables a level of integration impossible with off-the-shelf components.
Packaging
By designing the packaging alongside the product, I ensured the lamp’s simplicity carried through every stage of the experience.
Retail Imagery
Consumer facing imagery extends the design language beyond the object, demonstrating how the lamp’s character is expressed through retail graphics.
